Open-knit cotton cardigan, from ISSEY MIYAKE, Spring/Summer 1990, the mainline runway collection. The knit is very loose and irregular, an open net of slubby yarn with the stitches left large enough to see through. The body is straight and falls to mid-thigh. The sleeves are long and set wide. A collar stands at the back of the neck and rolls open down each front edge. The front is open, with no closure. The knit has no fixed shape of its own and takes the shape of whatever it is put on.

The cardigan dates to Spring/Summer 1990, Miyake's second year of pleating. This piece is not pleated. The pleating of those years developed alongside the rest of the mainline rather than replacing it.
